Can you believe June is almost over? Canada Day and Independence Day are almost here! This summer is going by too fast already! But we are trying to get the most out of it - we're not letting a newborn baby (if I can even call him a newborn anymore?) hold us back! This past weekend, we took him camping for the first time, at 10 weeks old. People said I was crazy to do it, but it really wasn't that big a deal. He's young enough that he doesn't really know the difference where he is when he's sleeping, so he doesn't care if his Pack 'n Play is in our bedroom or a tent. However, breastfeeding in a tent is not all that comfortable. I'd recommend bringing a camp chair into the tent to use, if you have room.
Our town started putting on a weekly outdoor concert series in a local park this year. Every week it is a different band, and every week there are a few different food carts there. This week we went for the first time. It was great! We had some tasty local food and listened to some local music. Events like this are why I love summer! Hopefully I can make it to the kids art party in the park this weekend.
Is it weird that I occasionally bring cookbooks into bed with me to read? We're talking cover to cover here, not just scanning the pictures. I certainly don't do it all the time, but definitely when I get a new one. My most recent cookbook purchase is The Best Mexican Recipes by America's Test Kitchen. I don't think I have ever fully expressed my love for ATK cookbooks. If you don't have any, you really should. I now have 7 ATK cookbooks and I love them all. Because of their extensive testing process, all the recipes are fool proof. I base many of the recipes on my blog off these cookbooks. My latest acquisition is just as great.
Speaking of reading, I've been doing a lot of it with all the breastfeeding that goes on around here. I could hardly put down Paper Towns and now I'm enjoying All The Light We Cannot See. Gotta love the library! I'm always looking for a great book to read; any recommendations?
