Happy Summer! Can you believe it's almost over? I keep thinking there's so much time left for lazy days at the pool, but it's only open for another couple of weeks! It goes by pretty fast. But we've been making the most of it. Grandma's been visiting for the past couple of weeks, so we've been seeing some sites. The first weekend she was here, we went to see the sunflower field at Pope Farm Conservancy. We just made the tail end of the blooms, and the flower heads were starting to droop, but there were still some great photo ops.
We also went for a drive to a local dairy farm for some ice cream. Sassy Cow makes some of the best ice cream around, and it's a fun place to visit too, as they have a calf and some goats on display, a shaded outdoor eating area and outdoor toys and games for the kids. Their chocolate milk is pretty tasty too. We are looking forward to eating some corn on the cob this weekend at the Sun Prairie Sweet Corn Festival.
We've also been getting some hot weather. Along with some time spent at our local pool, we've been having some backyard fun to stay cool. The water table has gotten daily use, and Peanut enjoyed playing in the sprinkler for the first time. Good thing too since my garden and grass needed the drink. Now the weather is cooler, and as long as it only lasts a couple of days, it's a nice break. Can you see my rogue tomato in the above picture? I noticed a small tomato plant starting to grow in the spring outside of the garden box. A rotten tomato must have fallen there at some point last year and started growing. I'm not sure what type of tomatoes, but I'm sure they'll make great Tomato Soup!
