I've been a food blogger for the past 10 years and have published hundreds of recipes.
When I started blogging, I learned very quickly that not only did my recipes need to be great, but that I also needed to include beautiful photos of my food to show just how mouthwatering it actually is. With hundreds of recipe posts and 3-6 published photos of each recipe, that's a lot of food photography experience!
My Food Photography Philosophy
With each food photography shoot that I do, I style my food using various props (this might include dishes, cutlery, linens, and various food items and garnishes) to make it look appetizing.
I then make sure the lighting is bright and natural. I prefer to use natural light, but I can work with artificial light as well if needed.
Then I take photos with my DSLR camera. I make sure that I get lots of different angles to show various aspects of the food. I will use a tripod and remote shutter if needed to get "action shots" eg. the always desirable cheese- or noodle-pull.
Once I've gotten all the shots I want, I start editing. This typically includes resizing the images to make them web-appropriate, sharpening, brightening, and adjusting white balance as needed.
Only after all this are my photos ready for my website and/or social media.

Social media and the ability to carry a camera with you at all times has made people more visual than ever, and most people want to see pictures of their food before they buy it or make it.
I can use my food photography and food styling expertise and make sure that you have lots of beautiful, well-lit photos to share on your menus, website, and social media.
I will style and photograph your food in your Edmonton-area location, or, if your product is shippable, in my home studio. I will then edit your photos so that they are bright, colorful, and appetizing and present you with image formats that can be used for web and/or print if needed.
